What to consider
when buying tailoring for your team

Discover our top questions you should ask yourself when buying tailoring for your team

What’s your business?

Perhaps you sell Michelin starred food and need a FOH team look that reflects the precision and craftsmanship or maybe you need comfortable tailoring for a team of bus drivers?

First impressions have the ability to make or break a business, and a positive experience can create long-lasting business relationships. They set the tone of your business to your customers or clients. A team uniform that makes your employees look confident and successful, will in-turn lead to increased confidence from your customers and clients.

Think about the price point of your product, for example a small breakfast cafe selling fry up’s wouldn’t suit a fine dining tailored look.

Are you a casual or formal business?

How you style your tailoring can make a big difference to the overall look of your team. If you’re in hospitality, retail or corporate, your uniform should reflect the image of your business and be something your customer relates to.

Casual Tailoring

Tailored uniforms over the past few years have thankfully become more versatile allowing brands to add their own personality to tailored looks.

Tailoring can be styled to a casual look by replacing more formal items such as a shirt and tie with a casual t-shirt or polo shirt or polo-neck.

As modern culture loosens its grip on gender norms and welcomes a world of gender fluidity, our mix and match versatile tailoring allows individuals to convey their individuality.

Formal Tailoring

The formal look is a timeless classic look and with all our collections having a choice of black, navy and charcoal this allows the bases of your uniform to stay consistent with the styling elements becoming a way of communicating your brand colours.

Bring in colour using your styling accessories, shirt or blouse that can bring in your brand colours and interior styling. Be subtle or bold, whichever you feel works for your brand.

If you want to go for completely bespoke tailored look you can opt for a Clubclass Bespoke tailoring. If your have a large team this can be a cost effective option and you will be able to have a wider range of fabric choice to create a perfect match to your brand look.

What is your staff demographic?

It’s important to design a uniform that will your team will love to wear day in day out – and be proud to wear. It’s always important to think about the demographic within your team. Are they younger? Older? Or a mix?

The uniform world is thankfully changing, bringing people together and allow people to express individuality within the workplace. All our tailored collections are available in a range of styles, lengths and sizes allowing team members to choose a style they like and feel comfortable wearing.

Why can’t I just buy a high street suit?

All our suits are designed to last the test of time, certain fabric do perform better in certain working environments.

We test all our fabric using the Martindale Abrasion resistance test, this is the most important textile property that measures the durability of a fabric. Independent test results demonstrate that we offer industry leading levels of performance.

All garments are a combination of technical excellence and fine craftsmanship expertise that sets them apart from high street suits.

For example If you open up the collar on a jacket you will notice an extra tape that is used to help stiffen the collar. The buttons are also dyed through buttons that look good for years without fade.

if you have a
new starter?

Recycled Plastic

All the plastic used within our packaging is made from recycled plastic In 2021 we stopped using hangers for waistcoats, skirts and trousers. They are now carefully folded and packaged in recycled plastic that can be recycled again and again.

Does your company provide a laundry service?

All our garments are carefully designed to be washed in a domestic washing machine or dry cleaned by following the correct cleaning processes.

You can choose to offer a laundry service and use a specialist workwear laundry service to ensure a consistent and reliable level of care, or you can also ask employees to wash their uniform at home.

How often the garments should be washed depends on the employees full time or part time positions and relates to how many garments you have provided them.

For example an employee in a full time position is supplied 2 jackets and is worn 10 days at a time and each jacket may be washed around 10 times throughout the working year. Trousers, dresses and skirts will be washed more throughout the year as they are worn closer to the skin.

How many tailored garments should you provide to each person?

You want your employees to be presentable and to arrive ready for work in a clean uniform each day, which means enough garments to be able to wash items on a regular basis but not every day.

Employees in full time positions will need more uniform than those in part time positions. You should also consider if the role includes long hours which makes it difficult to find the time to wash a uniform before the next shift?

When allocating a uniform for your full time team it’s important to allow enough uniform throughout the working week. So for example with trousers, one pair can be worn, one pair can be washed and ideally one pair can be ready to wear the next day.

A part time employee will still need enough clothing in case they are working 2 days in a row.
